Tuesday's Writing #No 8

Tuesday's Writing #No 8- Decency
Prompts: martyr, garble, impanel

In a big city
Sometimes homeless people
Feel like martyrs
Ignored, forgotten, hungry
Their lives’ message garbled
Wishing they could impanel
A jury to decide
They were worthy too

Of human decency.

Tuesday's Writing #No 7-Heard it all before

Tuesday'sWriting#No 7-Informal Talks

Prompts: informal, elevated, empathy

Heard it all before

An informal talk
They say
From elevated positions and minds
They spout rhetoric
Then they yell
Instead of using diplomacy
They seem like two of a kind
No empathy for others
But one is definitely
Worse than the other
With his threats
Followed up by tests
And proof of purpose
Haven't we heard this all before?
We’re all on edge again
Please no nuclear war!

Injustice and Racism

Injustice and Racism

One person stands up
Speaking out against injustice
Another joins them
Speaking out against
Racism, hatred and bile
A statue that encourages hate

Must be removed
Good people are trampled,
 Others join in
Who get out of bed
Every day to hate and divide
Might, not right
They think speaks
Domestic terrorism ensues
Blood is shed

We falter and some sway
Brave people finding courage
Speaking up, deciding
This is not the way
Might is not right
Words and deeds count
Hate speech is wrong
We must remain vigilante
Speaking out against wrong
Calling evil by it's name
Lay blame on bigotry
Lay blame on white supremacists
Punishing those
Who commit atrocities
Teaching others
Teaching your children
Actions have consequences
Hoping that one day
Attitudes will change
And all hatred and racism
But only if we speak as one
Telling them it's wrong
And we will not tolerate
Their wrong thinking anymore
They must change for
Violence and hate speech
Is never an answer
It's time to grow their brains
Reform and retract
Ideas archaic and foolish
Or pay the consequences
Jail time for hate speech or violence.

Tantalizing Tuesday's Tete-Tete's #No 6- Try

Tantalizing Tuesday's Tete-Tete's #No 6- Try

Prompts: Inextricable, beacon, fabulous

To some the past and the present
 Are inextricable
But if we can leave the past hurts
Behind us
Not forget or forgive
Just move on
So we can find that beacon of hope
The fabulous future that can happen
If we only try
