Three Word Wednesday-Share

Three Word Wednesday-Share

Prompts: Thoughtless, adjective: (of a person or their behavior) not showing consideration for the needs of other people, without consideration of the possible consequences.
Uptight, adjective: anxious or angry in a tense and overly controlled way.
Woozy, adjective: unsteady, dizzy, or dazed.

Thoughtless uptight people
Who wander through life
Grabbing everything
And anything
They want without a care
For others needs
Selfish and obnoxious
Not willing to share
Land, crops, or wealth
They make me woozy
That they cannot see
We are all part
Of the bigger picture
All of us connected
To mother earth
If we are fortunate
Let us truly share
One planet, one earth
For all

                                                                  Tree Killer

I am a tree killer
Do I feel righteous?
Or pathetic?
That I didn’t cut down the tree
The neighbour did
I cry and defend myself
Even though
I hated this tree
For following natures edict
And growing on its own
Too close to the fence

Sedate it was not
It spread and grew
So that the fence
Began to give way
I hate myself more for
Letting it grow
Too long
Strong and tall
Letting it imagine
It could live
When I should have
Pulled as a sapling
Had I noticed it
At all

Now I am complicit
In its demise
And I must do penance
By planting trees
That shall grow and grow.

Three Word Wednesday-The Holy Roller

The Holy Roller

The haphazard way
The tank seems placed
Behind the hedge
Is actually protection
From the elements

This great grand old lady
Nicknamed The Holy Roller
Believed to be
The only tank
That survived D-Day
A tribute to the Canadian war effort
To 700 men of the First Hussars regiment

A place where children now come
To climb and where scores of adults
Once those children, tell their children
Of the sacrifices made
When soldiers laboured to the shore
Through noxious fumes, from bombs
Gunfire and dead bodies
To save their comrades
And begin
The turning of the tide

To end the war.

Listen to the People

Amusing, adjective: causing laughter or providing entertainment.
Deeply, adverb: far down or in; intensely (as a modifier).
Elastic, adjective: (of an object or material) able to resume its normal shape spontaneously after contraction, dilatation, or distortion; able to encompass variety and change; flexible and adaptable; noun: cord, tape, or fabric, typically woven with strips of rubber, that returns to its original length or shape after being stretched.

It is not amusing
Nor trendy to deflect
The blame to media
For mistakes made
Take the blame politicians
For it is deeply felt
Amongst  its citizens
That our government has failed us
Not only us
But others who need them
To live and thrive

I cry tears of shame
That in making decisions that exclude
Refugees from our country
People have died
When that is how these officials families
Arrived somewhere in their ancestral line
It's simply
Wrong! Wrong! Wrong!

The government’s elasticity is gone
If it ever truly existed
They are letting fewer people arrive
I cry tears and I’m shouting loudly
Let those people in
Share the wealth
Don’t let one more child die
Let them come and let them thrive
Canada is for multiculturalism
But sometimes it feels like
They’ve turned a deaf ear
Maybe it’s time
To turn a deaf ear to them?
And elect a government who listens

To the people.
